Introduction:
Churachandpur, a small town located in the Southern part of Manipur was in darkness till 30th November, 1964 when a group of scholars and a few intellectuals led by Pu (L) Pauneikhai Vaiphei and (L) Dr. Pu TS Gangte met and discussed the possibility and the need for establishing a College. Members present in the meeting constituted the Governing Body, and (L) Pu Pauneikhai Vaiphei, chairing the meeting and (L) Dr. TS Gangte recording Secretary of the meeting were appointed as Chairman and Secretary of the upcoming College respectively. The College was then formally inaugurated on 30th November, 1964.
The College was started with some 100 students and a few dedicated teachers. The College, now is marching ahead each year producing more and more promising students who eventually became IAS, IPS, IDAS, IRS, etc. Officers serving the nation with dedication. By now, in 2020, the College produces the best kinds of students even topping the University to be more specific, in 2020, a midst large-scale pandemic, the College still has produced 4 (four) toppers, more than 80 (eighty) First Divisioners and so on.
The College, now with a new team of well qualified teacher who work with a high sense of sincerity and dedication, becomes one of the finest College in Manipur, and it is our hope and aspiration that, as we move forward in all directions (academic, infrastructure, etc.) Churachandpur College would in a very near future become the finest College, not only in Manipur, bu also in entire North-East region.
The dynamic shifts and transforming course of life has also prompted us to consider and evolve on the various aspects of the college to ensure outstanding results in all fields. Focus on qualitative results has been a dominant feature of our curriculum. The infrastructure of the college has been restructured to keep up with advancements in academia on the national and global front. The college has introduced NSS, NCC, Mentor-Mentee Guidance, along with various committees to look after varied aspects of the college thoroughly. The IQAC has been the torch bearer guiding the college consistently to improve performances by evaluating and reflection upon the functioning of the various departments and committees. Interactions in the college in relation to committees meetings, departmental meetings, student-teachers interaction are thorough, exhaustive and forthright.
We believe it is our duty to persist and persevere in renewing and revitalizing our model of education to go from strength to strength and stay true to our motto, ‘Clarion-E- Tenebris’ meaning ‘From Darkness to Light’.
Code of Conduct for the teachers of Churachandpur College;
- Teachers are obligated to conduct himself/herself with absolute dignity and decorum in his/her dealing with superiors, colleague and students every time.
- Teachers must have a high sense of duty to students and society.
- Teachers should have a professional competent nature to fulfil their responsibility.
- No teacher shall absent herself/himself from duties at any time without prior information from the higher authority.
- No teacher shall associate with any political party or take part in any other organizational actively, which is not in line with the duties and ethics of the teaching profession.
- No teacher shall use mobile phones in the classroom unless it is related to the on-going class subject.
- Teachers shall mandatorily use the ICT which is a modern teaching aid installed in the college.
- No teacher shall attempt to bring any political or outside pressure on his/her superior authorities in respect of service matters.
- Teachers shall ensure clean students examination by strictly invigilating during the time of examinations.
- No teacher shall incite, provoke or instigate any student or any student body against the college authority to materialize his/her vested interest.
Code of Conduct for the students of Churachandpur College;
- Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of discipline and dignified manner of behaviour inside the college campus.
- No student shall absent himself/herself without the prior permission of the Principal through the concerned Head of Department by writing a leave application.
- Students shall come to the college with decent dress code.
- Students must fulfil the attendance of 75% for the eligibility of writing examination as prescribed by the Manipur University.
- No student shall enter or leave the classroom during the on-going session without the permission of the teacher concerned.
- Students shall keep their mobile phones on silent mode during the class session.
- Students shall keep the college neat and clean where they should not litter any waste in the campus except in the trash bins kept.
- Consumption of intoxicants or any psychotropic substances in any form of smoking, chewing and drinking are strictly prohibited.
- It is strongly advised to refrain from activities such as scribbling, or noting on walls, doors or furniture which could deface the college and destroy the academic ambiance.
- All students shall park their vehicles at the location allotted for them.
Code of Conduct for Administrative Staffs
- Every staff employed in the college shall discharge his/her duties efficiently and diligently and shall conform to the rules and regulations of the college.
- No staff employed in the college shall absent himself/herself from his/her duties without the prior permission from the concerned authority. In case of sickness or absence on medical ground, a medical certificate to the satisfaction shall be produced within a week.
- No Staff employed in a college shall engage directly or indirectly in any trade or business.
- No staff employed in the college shall engage himself/herself in any political activity.
- No staff employed in the college shall engage in any activity which is anti-secular or which cause to create any disharmony in society or in any demonstration which is prejudicial to the interest of integrity of the college.
- Administrative staff of the college must maintain confidentiality of the college.
- Administrative staff should adhere to and must meet the timeline of any assign administrative works for the progress of the college functioning.
- Administrative staff must update their technical knowledge by attending training provided by the concerned authority.
- Administrative staff must have a high sense of duty towards the students and teachers.
- Administrative staff must refrain from consumption of intoxicants or any psychotropic substances in any form of smoking, chewing and drinking are strictly prohibited inside the college campus.
